Agent
A system that pursues a goal by taking actions in an environment, not only by generating text.
Sample glossary term. Replace with a signed definition when the desk is ready.
In classical AI textbooks, an agent perceives and acts. On this site the word usually means a language-model system plus a harness: it can call tools, look at the result, and continue until a goal or a limit is reached.
A chatbot that only replies in a thread is a useful model. It is not, by itself, an agent in this sense.
