Agentic checkout
A purchase an assistant can finish, with the store still the seller and a person or a prior rule approving the payment.
Agentic checkout is the payment step inside a shopping agent. The assistant sends the cart and a payment instruction. The merchant charges the payment method on the merchant's systems and remains the seller of record, on the Google, OpenAI, Microsoft, and Perplexity pages cited in the checkout guide.
The step is a tool call with a guardrail. The guardrail can be a tap, a price cap, or a rule set earlier, such as Amazon's auto-buy at a target price. How much of that happens without a fresh confirmation is autonomy. The catalog the assistant is allowed to quote is a product feed. The surrounding software is the harness.
